A male of Gelada monkey captured in its natural environment, the edge of a deep slope. These monkeys are endemic of the high mountains of Ethiopia and, since they are the most terrestrial primates (except for humans), they usually move around meadows and escarpments by walking. Local people from the highlands call them "lion monkeys", due to the beautiful thick fur and the mane that adorn the males' head. This shot was taken in the Simien Mountains N.P., over 3.200 mt above sea level,
